CMSC 460: Teaching Assistantship in Computer Science

Schedule: Group meeting Wednesdays 2:30-3:30; additional weekly meetings with CS105 students.

Text: Readings from various conferences and journals related to computer science education, such as SIGCSE ITiCSE, and ICER. The proceedings for SIGCSE and ITiCSE can be found online in the ACM Digital Library.

Prerequisites: permission of instructors

Description:
Teaching Assistantship for a computer science course such as CMSC 105. Teaching assistants will meet with faculty, as a group, on a weekly basis. Meetings will focus on discussions of general topics in computer science education (selected jointly by faculty and students), and specific topics relevant to the course being assisted. Teaching assistants will also lecture on supplemental material and lead discussion sections of the course's core material.
